The procedure Standards ranks the cases (i.e. Municipalities) according to the values of the selected indicator. Cases are sorted in descending order for desirable, positive features (meaning high values are good) and ascending order for undesirable, negative features (meaning high values are bad), in order to show the most desirable case at the top of the graph. Color-coding is used to emphasize the groups of cases determined by the standard values. When you check your case's compliance with existing or proposed standards, the cases are grouped and displayed following a color code to highlight the groups. As such, green means “good”, yellow means “neutral” and red means “bad”, very much like traffic lights meaning go/wait/no go. MapDecision uses up to five groups for displaying color-coded output, with two shades of green and two shades of red being used. Selected regions on a map are hatched. Those regions for which there is no data in the database are colored in gray.

Example: Employable persons for 100 under and over labour age

    In this example, the Standards procedure is applied to the indicator Demographic load (Employable persons for 100 under and over labour age). The indicator is considered positive, meaning the higher the values, the more desirable the situation is. 

The break values were set at 160 and 180, resulting three color-coded groups.

Looking on the map, you may notice that the Leningrad nearest towns have a good situation according to the selected indicator but also there is a cluster of 4 neighbors municipalities in red color.
