TARGET - Quadrant Analysis

The Quadrant Analysis procedure shows the correlation values between the selected variables. The value of the Coefficient of Correlation for a pair of variables is displayed below de correlation plot. For each correlation, the plot shows a vertical line (the average of X values) and a horizontal line (the average of Y values).

The two lines define four quadrants. When a quadrant is selected the quadrant area it will be hatched. All the cases belonging to that quadrant will be simultaneously highlighted in magenta on the map. For example, if we take the indicator CPR using modern methods over the average and percentage of MWRA gainfully employed in private sector over the average, this means first quadrant, as shown in the picture below.

All the points (cases) situated in one quadrant share certain characteristics:

The Quadrant Analysis procedure utilization:

  1. One can target and assist cases requiring priority intervention, for example: the regions with low percentage of married women that use modern contraceptive methods and low percentage of married women employed in private sector need a particular approach in order to improve the use of contraceptive situation
  2. One can share the positive experience of cases or regions showing strengths in both areas.
  3. One can identify over-performers, i.e. the regions with higher percentage of married women that use modern contraceptive methods and higher percentage of married women employed in private sector
  4. One can identify under-performers,
